A typical Basque Country village with its fronton, town hall and church, Bidart overlooks the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the mountains and Larrun to the east. Superb.
To climb the 905 metres of Larrun, the last "summit" of the Pyrenees that plunges into the Atlantic Ocean, you will see many stone sheepfolds, docile sheep and the black-headed Manech sheep. They enjoy the most exquisite view.
Basque weather is one of those unpredictable climates about which they say that the weather is good several times a day. Between the ocean influences and the Pyrenean barrier, the rain has a Basque, Gascon and Spanish accent.
